Khuu Sawm is built by one independent developer. Email me and you reach the person who wrote the app, usually within a couple of days.
Pick a scene, and the app plays the other person in it — a market seller, a landlord, a colleague. You reply in Thai, by speaking or typing. Every line you say comes back with a score, a corrected version of your sentence, and a short note on what changed.
Check Settings › Khuu Sawm and make sure both Microphone and Speech Recognition are allowed. Thai speech recognition needs a network connection on most devices. If it still fails, you can type your answer instead — typed and spoken replies are graded identically.
Check the silent switch and the volume. The app uses the Thai voice installed on your device; if you have never used Thai text-to-speech before, iOS may need to download the voice first, in Settings › Accessibility › Spoken Content › Voices › Thai.
Apple does not ship a male Thai voice on iOS. The app uses the only Thai voice iOS provides. This is a limitation of the system voices, not a setting.
Thai politeness particles agree with the speaker, not the listener. On the home screen there is a ครับ / ค่ะ setting — set it to the one you use, and the corrections will follow it.
Word choice, grammar, particles and register — whether what you said was the right thing to say, phrased the way a Thai person would phrase it. It does not score pronunciation. Your speech is transcribed to text, and the text is what gets graded; the app never analyses your audio.
Tap Restore a purchase on the subscription screen. If that does not unlock them, make sure you are signed in to the same Apple Account that made the purchase, then relaunch the app. If it still fails, email me with the date of purchase and I will sort it out.
Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions, at least 24 hours before the period ends. Subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple, so cancellations and refunds go through Apple, not through me. Survival's five scenes stay free either way.
Up to 400 practice turns a month — roughly 30 full scenes. Every reply you send is one turn. If you reach it, practice resumes at the start of the next month. It exists because each turn costs real money to generate; almost nobody reaches it.
No. There is no sign-up and no login. Progress is stored on your device, which also means it does not follow you to another device.
What you type or say is sent for grading, and nothing else is collected. The details are in the Privacy Policy.
If the app corrects you to something a Thai person would not say, please send me the scene name and both sentences. Reports like that are the most useful thing I receive.
